Girl Security Welcomes National Security Leader Michèle Flournoy as Strategic Advisor

JULY 14, 2025 — Girl Security is honored to announce Michèle Flournoy, one of the nation's leading national security experts, as a Strategic Advisor to Girl Security.

Ms. Flournoy brings decades of experience in defense policy and leadership, having served as the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy under President Obama and co-founder of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), a leading national security institute. In 2017, she also co-founded WestExec Advisors, which provides strategic advisory services to critical industries, where she serves as Managing Partner.

"I'm excited to join Girl Security's mission to transform national security by developing the next generation of diverse leaders", said Michèle Flournoy. "Their innovative approach to education and mentorship is exactly what our field needs to address 21st-century challenges."

As a Strategic Advisor to Girl Security, Ms. Flournoy will serve as a trusted thought partner to the Girl Security leadership and Board, providing high-level insight to help guide the organization's long-term strategy and growth, particularly in areas of national security innovation and talent.
