National Security Workforce Development
Girl Security’s National Fellows Program aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and networks to adapt and advance through national security pathways across government, business, technology, and more. Whether participants are interested in fields such as cybersecurity or artificial intelligence, or have job aspirations in civil service or business, our model is designed to support girls’ wide-ranging interests.
Our National Fellows Program is the only youth-centered program in the nation that trains participants on structured analytics while building a diverse and multidisciplinary set of critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills to equip them for their futures.
Open Enrollment for Qualifying Participants Nationwide (Fully Remote):
- Open to Individual Applications
- 12 Weeks
- 100% virtual program that combines asynchronous modules and synchronous workshop sessions that are designed to be accessible to diverse learners
- An esteemed faculty that includes women and gender minority security experts and leaders from Stanford, Harvard, and Georgetown
- Trauma-informed, identity centered learning experiences that leverage Social and Emotionally Responsive strategies to meet learners where they are
- Opportunities to consider solutions for security challenges around artificial intelligence, cyber security, and the future of a data-driven world
- This program includes a $350 stipend, certificate of completion, all materials, and access to a suite of benefits upon completion, including the Girl Security mentoring program, professional development resources, pathway opportunities with corporate sponsors including scholarships to complete Google’s Cybersecurity Certification Certificate, and more.
Who can apply?
Interested applicants need no prior knowledge or exposure to security studies. For this program, we strongly encourage candidates who are interested in learning more about the security sector and are collaborative, open-minded, demonstrate leadership capability, have a growth mindset, and are self-motivated. This is a neurodiverse-affirming program and is designed to be accessible and inclusive, accommodating the needs of diverse learners from various backgrounds and learning styles.
Girl Security welcomes those who identify as all of the following to apply:
- Girl, woman, or gender minority
- In 11th grade through 2-years post high school (select highly motivated 10th graders will also be considered);
- Have not already participated as a Girl Security National Fellow.
- US Citizen or permanent resident
