Girl Security is devastated by the loss of Sonya Holt, an inspiring role model, public servant, colleague, friend, and advocate. Sonya dedicated her life to serving others and it was a privilege and honor to work alongside her.

When Sonya joined Girl Security as a Strategic Advisor, she immediately infused her work with a singular purpose: to redefine Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility programming into strategies designed to develop all workforce talent to its fullest potential. Sonya was adamant that inclusion means everyone. Her approach was equally straightforward. She sought to help organizations better leverage the full spectrum of their talent, from incoming recruits to the most senior members, by reframing the individuality of each employee as an ingredient for greater organizational success.

In addition to the invaluable lived experiences, learned insights, and expertise she offered, Sonya’s capacity to identify common ground amid multiple stakeholders was a blueprint for all of those advocating on behalf of the inclusion of others, in national security and beyond. 

The loss of Sonya will be deeply felt for generations, but Girl Security is dedicated to carrying out her vision of a more equitable future for our national security workforce.
